THE MAKER

Robert Wylie spent 10 years importing furniture before he understood exactly why the category was broken. Mass production trades fit and finish for volume. The result is furniture that looks acceptable and feels like a compromise.

Benchmade in the USA.

THE STANDARD

Every piece is cut, sewn, and assembled by hand in his Los Angeles factory. The frame shop runs the same way a cobbler's does: one pattern for every frame, hung and stored, ready to build again when the order comes in. Nothing is guessed at. Nothing is estimated. The dimensions, the spring system, the foam density, the cushion fill — all of it is specified before production begins.

TO THE TRADE ONLY.

THE COMMITMENT

The build spectrum runs from what Robert calls a Toyota to a Bentley. The Toyota is sinuous springs and high-resilience foam: guaranteed for life, well constructed, nothing to prove. The Bentley is eight-way hand-tied coil springs, spring-down cushions, goose down wrap, and a seat that mimics a fine mattress. Both are available. The choice depends on the project, the client, and how long they intend to keep it.

WHY WE CARRY BLH

At Allumette, we carry BLH because most manufacturers sell you a product. Robert and the team builds you a specification. Every cushion fill, every spring system, every frame dimension is a decision made before production starts, not after delivery. That's the difference between a piece that fits a room and a piece that defines it. We don't put makers on the floor she can't stand behind and Black Label Home doesn't disapoint.
